The stars above your vows
On the evening you married, a sky stood above you that will never repeat in quite the same way. Enter the date, the hour and the place of the ceremony, and you will see exactly which stars were overhead that night.

Why a star map makes a good wedding gift
Most wedding gifts are lovely but interchangeable: a vase, a set of glasses, an envelope. A star map is not, because only one of it exists. The sky above the place you said yes stood in precisely that arrangement that evening, and it will never return in that exact configuration. That makes it a gift that does not lose its meaning the moment it is unwrapped. It works just as well as a present from the guests to the couple as from the partners to each other, and it is one of the few gifts you still see hanging on the wall years later.
Which date and place to pick
The obvious choice is the wedding day itself, with the town hall, the church or the reception venue as the location. But plenty of people deliberately pick something else: the evening of the proposal, the day you met, or the place where you first lived together. For the time we use 22:00 by default, because the sky is nicely filled then; if you want the moment of the vows themselves, enter that hour. Torn between two dates? It is usually the date with a story behind it that makes the better gift.
How it works
You choose a date, a time and a place. From that we calculate the exact star positions using the HYG catalogue and the IAU 1982 sidereal time formula — the same method professional planetarium software uses. What you see in the preview is what gets printed.
Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance should I order for a wedding?
- Count on three to six working days of delivery within the EU, plus a day for designing. Order two weeks ahead and you have plenty of room. For a wedding in peak season or around the holidays we advise three weeks, because print queues are longer then.
- Can I put the couple’s names on the poster?
- Yes. Underneath the star map there are three lines of text you fill in yourself: usually the names, with the place and the date below them. You see straight away in the preview how it looks, and what you see there is exactly what gets printed.
- What if I don’t know the exact time of the ceremony?
- You don’t need to. The stars shift slowly, so an hour either way barely changes the image. If you don’t know the time, leave it at 22:00 — the map then shows an evening sky with plenty of visible stars.
